Community Spotlight: Infamy Gaming PvP | Guild Wars 2 Beta News ...

This week, like every week, the staff and I get the privilege of talking with some of the coolest people out there in the community. I know we do a lot of news and bring it to you guys, but I get to have the coolest job ever. I get to hang out with the readers all the time. This week I got a chance to speak with a couple of the officers from Infamy gaming about the guild they?re putting together to roll some heads in Guild Wars 2. Now infamy gaming isn?t just one guild holding up a light in the darkness of guild obscurity. They?ve got a solid background behind them and a full network of games to show off their prowess.

Oh, and did I mention giveaways? Yeah, they threw together some really neat swag recently for their members. Things such as a free copy of Guild Wars 2 and a Charr plushie. I think that?s just cheating with the plushie. That?s like a gigantic stuffed ball of cotton popularity (that will rip your tiny human head off and feed it to it?s pet siege devourer).

?How long has Infamy Gaming been around?

Infamy Gaming has been around since 1999, we started as a professional CS 1.6 E-Sports Organization, and eventually grew into a Multi-Gaming E-Sports Organization that not only covered FPS games, but RTS and MMO genres as well. That puts us at 13 years strong!

Infamy Gaming is a large network, what other sorts of games do you guys play?

We support just about any games our members want to play, in a competitive or casual sense. At the moment, Infamy Gaming currently supports: Guild Wars 2, CS 1.6, CS: Source, CS: GO, Battlefield 3, Diablo 3, League of Legends, Rosh Online, Starcraft 2, SFxT, and World of Warcraft. We cover just about every genre there is.

What?s going to be your focus in GW2?

As mainly a competitive organization, our main focus will be on competitive play in sPvP, as well as WvW. Currently we are putting a lot of emphasis on WvW gameplay and recruitment to become a prominent Guild in our server to help drive our server to the top of the leaderboards. While this may be our main focus at launch, sPvP will be a huge part of our Guild, and our main competitive team will participate in all of the big player and Arenanet run tournaments.

How hard is it to get into Infamy Gaming?

?

It?s really not that hard at all, we do have an application process as well as a ?screening period?, but we recruit casual and competitive players alike and only require basics such as maturity, 18 years of age or older, microphone and Teamspeak, etc. This is all pre-launch recruitment, and while our WvW section is always recruiting experienced and amateur PvP players, our sPvP main team is only looking to recruit dedicated, experienced PvP individuals.

What?s the activity like, and is there any required times to be online?

?

We?ve got people from all timezones, including European, so there is a good number of us online at most any given time. We do not require casual players to have any sort of time dedication, so long as they are dedicated to the Guild and play with/have fun with us. If you are recruited to the sPvP or WvW teams however, we require a bit more. After launch, those who dedicate themselves to the WvW team will be expected to attend major sieges when they are online and capable, we will have a nightly timeframe of when our main WvW players will normally be on as well. Although we won?t ever require a set amount of hours or days played from our members, when they are online and able to help us during WvW times, we will expect them to be there when we need them. For our sPvP team, they will have their own practice schedules, and will be required to make those times as often as they are capable unless prior notice was given to the team leader. We?re pretty flexible when it comes to ?requiring? our members to be online, we don?t expect much, just dedication to your specific area when you?re online unless nothing Guild related is really going on at the time.
?
I understand you do some really rockin? giveaways, Tell me a little bit about what you?ve been up to?

?

Well, we giveaway BETA keys to certain games like DOTA 2 on our Facebook page pretty regularly https://www.facebook.com/InfamyGaming, almost every 100 Likes we do a BETA Key giveaway for either that or CS: GO. Apart from that, our Guild Wars 2 Division just got done giving away a free copy of Guild Wars 2, as well as a Charr Plushie as a second place prize, that was completely out of pocket from our GW2 Division Staff and Members. We will most likely be giving away more GW2 BETA Keys in the near future.?

What sort of plans do you guys have upcoming?

?

We?re doing a lot of work with other Guilds right now, as well as social media with videos and recruitment to help boost our numbers in our WvW section. We plan to recruit other small Guilds/groups of friends and players, who may have not had good luck with finding organized Guilds for WvW or may have not had too much look with recruitment, into our organization/Guild. With this, we can strengthen our community with groups of players who already know each other, are comfortable with each other, and have already made friendships to bring with them to Infamy. We plan on making some more awesome sPvP and WvW videos for the upcoming BWE?s as well as continuing to make class and WvW guides to support? http://gw2wvw.com/main/

How big is the guild? and what size are you shooting for?

?

Right now, without counting members from other divisions who will be transferring over or joining us in Guild Wars 2, we have about 25-30 active members. We are looking to cap out around 60 active members, at least 30-40 in our WvW team. After launch, or after we hit the 40-50 member mark, our recruitment will become extremely picky, and we will most likely only take PvP veterans or members who we believe will be assets to our team. Our sPvP main team will most likely be comprised of 8 members, and we will possibly have two teams (A/B Team).
